value-adds
New front porch. Spruced up the curb appeal by leveling the front yard.
Open floor concept — Took down living room wall to open up the space between living room and dining room.
New kitchen — new apron-front kitchen sink, butcher block countertop, dishwasher, cabinets, fridge.
Added a feature wall for a rustic, cabin feel.
Added a shower to a half-bath upstairs.
New washer, dryer.
It’s now a 3 bed 2 bath, and looks like an inviting home.
Expanded our renovation budget by partnering with InvestDSM — a non-profit city-sponsored program to revitalize targeted neighborhood.
previous condition
It was a 3 bed 1.5 bath.
Looks abandoned, no upkeep/maintenance. Saplings in the gutter.
Sewer had a disconnect — Leaking under the streets, eroding soil and sinking.
challenges & setbacks
While adding the shower upstairs, we discovered that a lot of the plumbing were not up to code. So we had to allocate more time and budget to get up to code.
This project took longer than expected, mostly because we were closing on another project at the same time. We’ve been busy growing!
